Bethnal Green United advance to FA Vase fourth round

BETHNAL GREEN UNITED booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Vase following their 5-2 win over local rivals Sporting Bengal United on Saturday.

The Green Army showed they were the leading team in Tower Hamlets having beaten Bengal 2-1 three days earlier in their Essex Senior League clash.

Sporting were pushed on the back foot almost immediately and found themselves 3-0 down within 25 minutes before losing left-back Sadiq Ahmed following his red card.

Sporting showed spirit in the second half, scoring twice but it turned out to be a hard task to overcome a huge deficit.

Bethnal Green will now take on Old Woodstock Town from Hellenic Division One, with the tie set to take place on the weekend of January 21.
